Seymour Duncan Hyperswitch

It seems there are a zillion guitar pickup wiring mods out there involving coil-splitting, capacitor switching, phase reversal, series and parallel configurations — the list is endless. Normally, installing these sorts of modifications would require time-consuming surgery with a soldering iron. Not to mention, you'd also have to outfit your instrument with push-pull pots, mini toggles, or some other switching method to access the modded-out tones. Now, thanks to the Seymour Duncan HyperSwitch, these migraine-inducing issues are history. The HyperSwitch is a 5-way blade switch that empowers you to alter your guitar's pickup wiring configuration instantly and effortlessly using your Bluetooth-equipped smartphone. With the HyperSwitch, you can design, store, and recall a whole range of pickup configurations with a tap of your phone's touchscreen. The HyperSwitch is compatible with most passive guitar pickups and runs off a simple 9-volt battery. Whether you're trying to make your Les Paul sound like a Strat, craft out-of-phase Brian May-style textures, or just add a couple of new tones to your arsenal, the Seymour Duncan HyperSwitch makes discovering new experimental tones easier than ever.

A multitude of tones at your fingertips

The HyperSwitch gives you lightning-fast to the full gamut of pickup wiring configurations. Moreover, it's compatible with most passive pickups, including single-coils, single-coil-sized humbuckers, full-sized humbuckers, stacked humbuckers, and P-Rails.

Single-coil Configurations:

  • Standard: Standard wind direction for that pickup.
  • Reverse: Reverse wind direction.
  • Off: The pickup can be bypassed.

Humbucker Configurations

  • Standard Full: Coils in series in standard wind direction.
  • Standard South Coil: Split to south coil of the pickup, normal wind direction. For most humbucker models, the south coil is the coil with the screws, sometimes referred to as the adjustable coil. The south coil is usually closest to the neck on a neck humbucker and closest to the bridge on a bridge humbucker.
  • Reverse South Coil: Split to south coil, reversed wind direction.
  • Reverse Full: Coils in series in reverse wind direction.
  • Standard North Coil: Split to north coil of the pickup, normal wind direction. The north coil of most humbuckers is the one with the slugs and is the farthest from the neck in most neck humbuckers and is the furthest from the bridge in most bridge humbuckers.
  • Reverse North Coil: Split to north coil, reversed wind direction.
  • RP: Coils out of phase in parallel. Coil starts are hot.
  • PRP: Coils out of phase in parallel reversed. Coil finishes as hot.
  • Off: Any coil can be bypassed.

Stacked Humbucker Configurations

  • Standard Full: Coils in series in standard wind direction.
  • Standard Top Coil: Split to top coil. On most stack models, the upper coil is north up.
  • Standard Top Coil Reverse: Split to top coil, wind direction reverse.
  • Reverse Full: Coils in series reverse wind direction.
  • Reverse Bottom Coil: Split to bottom coil.
  • Standard Top Coil: Split to bottom coil.
  • RP: Coils out of phase in parallel. Coil starts are hot.
  • PRP: Coils out of phase in parallel reversed. Coil finishes as hot.
  • Off: Any coil can be bypassed.
