Portland's Neighborhood Guitar Shop

Since 2005, Centaur Guitar has been a place for Portland musicians to find great gear, get honest advice, and spend a little time talking shop.

What started with longtime friends and bandmates Kelly Manahan and Jason Snell has grown into an independent, community-minded guitar shop on NE Sandy Boulevard. We specialize in guitars, basses, amps, effects, and all the weird and wonderful gear that makes playing music fun.

We’re not interested in telling you what you should play. We’re interested in helping you find something that makes you want to plug in and play.

Gear With Character

Our inventory is constantly changing, with an emphasis on used, vintage, and interesting gear alongside new equipment. You might come in looking for a specific guitar and walk out with something you didn't know existed.

That's part of the fun.

We love the oddballs, the sleepers, the old favorites, and the gear with a story behind it. From guitars and basses to amplifiers and effects, we try to keep the shop stocked with things we'd be excited to take home ourselves.

Part of the Portland Music Community

Centaur has always been about more than selling gear. Over the years, the shop has hosted hundreds of bands and musicians, and has been a gathering place for people who make, play, and love music in Portland.

Bands have played in our store and parking lot. Musicians have met here. People have found their first guitar here, their next favorite pedal here, and sometimes just a good conversation.

We're proud to be part of Portland's music community, and we're grateful to the musicians who have made Centaur what it is.
